:-). Again be very careful. Popularity can destroy a breed. If you have small or younger children it's not recommended. They usually have a pretty good temperament as far as kids go, it's the size. They are fragile and they get dropped, kicked, stepped on, sat on and stuff like that. As puppies they are prone to hypoglycemia so extra care and vitamins are needed, and again children come in because stress from over handling and improper handling could stress them to the point of a hypoglycemic episode. The nutri-Stat should be given morning, evening, extended play periods, if you are going to be gone awhile, when you know ahead of time they are going to be stressed out (like shots and things like that) etc. This can become an emergency medical condition and is not covered by breeders because it is a matter of care. You do have to watch close and some are worse than others about it. There are a few situations when it would be their fault. They are prone to liver shunts. If you decide on a breed like that my advice would be to have the test run within the initial warranty period so that if the new puppy did have one you could return it because we are going to look at breeder's as closely as we are looking at breeds. ;-) Heart problems, retained baby teeth, dental issues, allergies, loose knees (in many cases they are small enough that surgery isn't necessary unless extremely severe and you just have to watch weight and exercise), eyelashes, tear ducts, trachea, colitis, are the ones I've seen the most. Don't let that scare you; they are actually pretty healthy from the right kind of breeders and the right diet of course. :-)
