Is There Any Way To Help Bring Out The Black Pigment In A Puppy's Nose? I Have Heard That If You Put Olive Or Castor Oil On The Nose It Will Help.

I have some puppies that should have black noses but the pigment is not coming in as it should. I just wanted to know if there is anything I can do to stimulate the pigment to come to the surface.

Black or brown pigment on the nose is genetically inherited. It can not be produced by any medicines like olive oil or caster oil. These pigments are produced by the cells in the lower layer of the epidermis. Sometimes, these pigment production increases as the dogs grow and peoples who use such oils give credit to these medicines. So, don't use any oil or medicine without consulting vet.

I wouldn't put any type of oil on the puppies nose it won't allow the skin to breathe. Some just don't have dark noses.
