Where Is The Home Of Yorkshire County Cricket Club?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

The headquarters of Yorkshire County Cricket Club is at Headingley Stadium in Leeds. Yorkshire play most of their home matches there during the season and the ground is one of England's Test cricket venues. The cricket ground adjoins a rugby stadium, the home of Leeds Rhinos RLFC and Leeds Tykes RUFC. Headingley has seen Test cricket since 1899 and has a capacity of 17,000.

In recent years, the cricket ground has undergone as impressive regeneration, with three of its main stands being rebuilt. The west stand is known for its rowdiness and animosity towards away supporters. The new east stand includes impressive new executive boxes as well as brand new seats replacing some rather shabby old ones.

Some of the most notable sporting moments to have occurred at Headingley involve epic Ashes Test matches. It was the scene of perhaps the most dramatic comeback in Test match history. Odd of 200-1 were quoted by bookies for an England win after they were forced to follow on and were reduced to 135-7 in their second innings. But a mammoth innings of 149 not out and then eight wickets for 43 by Bob Willis with the ball steered England to a famous win by 18 runs.
