Dog Ate Sudafed,What To Do?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

You have not indicated how many tablets eaten by your dog? Which strength 30 mg or 60 mg? Sudafed contains Pseudoephedrine and is registered for human use. FDA has not approved this drug for animal use but vets can prescribe as an extra label drug. Its dose in dogs is 0.2-0.4 mg per Kg body weight, 2 or 3 times in a day. This drug can cause increased heart rate, seizure, agitation, restlessness, vomiting, loss of appetite, and tremors.
The side effects are less if prescribed by vet but if your dog has eaten accidentally then inducing vomiting within one hour of ingestion can help to eliminate this drug from the body. If your dog is showing any of the above mentioned side effects then take your dog to vet or poison control center.
