    Argos is a city which is situated in Peloponnese near Nafplio in Greece. It previously used to be a harbor (of peculiar historical significance) which was named after Nauplius. This region, till date, is also known as the Argolid. This name comes from a combination of the Latin and Greek name. The residents of the city of Argos used to be called Argivi in Latin and Argives in English. The name also could have come from one of its founders, the lord Argos, who was the son of Zeus. Niobe.

    Presently it has a population of 27,550 people and is said to be the largest in the entire city area. It is known for all it monuments of special historical significance and hence is a very popular tourist destination. However the main occupation in this place still remains agriculture.
