Why Is My 1999 Buick Regal Blowing Black Smoke?

Answer Question

Black smoke generally means that either oil is burning (smoke might look blue) or the fuel air mixture is too rich (too much gas).

You need to replace the oxygen sensor, that is what controls your air/fuel mixture and when it gets plugged it thinks that it isn't getting enough fuel so it dumps too much to compensate. Disconnect the battery cable before changing and reconnect after install to clear codes and reset computer.
