    Kazakhstan formally known as the Republic of Kazakhstan is a nation which extends over a huge region of northern and central Eurasia. It is said to be the ninth biggest country in the world.   

    It shares its land borders with Russia, China, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan. Before attaining complete independence, Kazakhstan was known as Kazakh SSR in the Soviet Union. Presently it is an associate of the Commonwealth of Independent States. Most of the country's land consists of a semi-dessert terrain.

    The capital of Kazakhstan is Astana. According to the census conducted in the year 1999 the total population of this country was said to be 14,953,100. The census report of 1999 also stated that the total area of this region was 2,724,900 square miles. The current Prime Minister of Kazakhstan is Karim Masimov.
