What Is A Furred Tongue?

A furred tongue is basically where your tongue looks to have a furry appearance. It will be a grey colour and it is usually associated with people who have a poor diet and who smoke heavily. However it can also occur if you constantly breathe through your mouth which can happen if you snore at night. The grey colour that you can see may actually put you off when you realise what it actually is. Basically it is the dead cells and bacteria which have formed a barrier and you can literally see it on the tongue.

There is a way in which you can help this however and that includes eating high fibre foods and by using a tongue scraper. Ideally if you know the cause of the problem it would be better to try and stop doing whatever it is that is causing it. However if you are a smoker you might not find this easy!
