Because Aeroplane is much - much heavier in weight and cargo with passengers load only to make it require much more thrust of energy(Inertia motion of energy) to let it fly. While helicopters generally lifts lesser weight of its body and passengers and fly at lesser the speed of Aeroplanes it can fly straight upwards.
