Can You Give Me Some Tips On How To Care For My Horse?

Horses are either warm blooded or cold blooded. Warm-blooded horses are less delicate and need less intensive care. Cold blooded horses require a good diet of hay and sometimes pony nuts, especially in winter to keep them going. Warm bloods grow thicker coats and don't need to be stabled every night. Cold bloods need rugs and stables. This, combined with the cost of food, make cold blooded horses more expensive to own.

Horses should have their hooves trimmed by a blacksmith every 6-8 weeks. Horses which are ridden on tarmac also need shoes (a protective metal arch, which is nailed to the horses hoof.)

Horses should have a clean stable/shelter- which means quite a bit of shovelling. They also require to be groomed regularly but if you own a warm blooded horse you should not over-groom them as it takes the natural oil from their coat resulting in it becoming far less water repellent.

Horses can also get different types of worms from the ground, which enter the digestive system and make them ill. You can buy worming paste or tablets from the vet to prevent this happening.
