They eat ants and crickets and other small bugs...the cage should be big enough for them to stretch their legs/run around....the floor of the cage could be covered with preferably walnut shells or some type of untreated wood mulch or chips....but i just read on another site that even zoos are having trouble keeping them alive for more than a year.....they really don't like being kept caged up...the zoo in the article sent them to a zoo in Texas because they have the natural habitat for them...hope this helps
