Medical Problem Or Anxiety, can You Help?
16 yr. Old daughter has "episodes" of a tightness in her throat, shortness of breath, sometimes shakiness along with the episode. This happens daily...no time pattern. Dr. Thinks it is anxiety...daughter thinks it's not. They are doing tests to rule out anything physical. Have you or anyone you know ever experienced anything like this?

I myself suffer from panic/anxiety attacks and have similar symptoms but not on a daily basis It could be anxiety but it could also be something more serious. It is good they are testing her but this is your child so don't just settle for any answer they give you. You also need to look at how long this has been going on and if anything may have triggered this the first time or if anything could be triggering it on a daily basis. Good luck hope you get good news I would like to here what you find out and if she is doing any better after treatment.

I have had attacks, too, but not on daily basis. I have since learned how to control them by closing my eyes, breathing slower, looking into a mirror and "talking my self out of it" and I kept a diary; when did I do these things, what environment was I in, what I ate, etc. I haven't done this on a daily basis. This concerns me for you. Has your daughter ever done drugs? Does she have allergies? These things could trigger some anxiety. Her anxiety could be caused by her being afraid of this other thing that is wrong with her. I will pray for her.
