I used to just go to my local insurance company, but I was actually surprised when I tried some of the online quote comparison sites. I've tried out http://www.4insure.net/ and I dug out some pretty good deals.

I said that I used to mainly deal with my local insurance brokers but recently tried one of those online auto insurance quote comparison tools and found some way better deals.
I'm not sure how it works in your area, but I've been using the tool at http://www.4insure.net and its worked out quite well for me.
