Clermont is quite an attractive rural township in Queensland, Australia very close to the Peak Ranges. It is a charming and extensive town on the slopes above Sandy Creek and Hoods Lagoon. The town is situated 106 km north of Emerald on the Gregory Highway and almost 760 km north of Brisbane.

Like many other town sites in the Central Highlands, Ludwig Leichhardt was the first European visitor to Clermont in 1845. He traveled through the west of the town admiring the beautiful mountains of the Peak Range formed due to a series of volcanic eruption. The St Mary's Roman Catholic Church which was erected in 1890 close to the junction of the Gregory and Peak Downs highways is worth visiting.
