At present it is impossible to tell if your own ancestors lived in North Wales thousands of years ago. However -

Evidence for human habitation in North Wales dates back over a quareter of a million years based on current evidence mainly from cave sites.

The first evidence we have for humans in Wales comes from the site of Pontnewydd Cave in Denbighshire. Excavations have identified the remains of an early form of Neanderthal, living around around 230,000 years ago.
They were tool makers at Pontnewydd Cave. They used local materials to fashion what is known as a Levallois flake and was used as a scapper or cutting tool.
They also used what is called the 'bout coupé handaxe - a tool with a flattened, rather than sharp end.

These early cave dwellers lived by hunting and gathering the local animal and palnt resources .
Glacial and interglacial periods occurred unil around 10,000BC when the period known as the Meslothic began in North Wales.
