How Successful Was The Film 'Forrest Gump'?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

'Forrest Gump' was a huge success, earning six Academy Awards and 13 Academy Award nominations. It grossed $677 million worldwide, making it the top grossing film in North America in 1994.

It received positive reviews from critics and was rated 'fresh' on the website Rotten Tomatoes, with 79%.

Forrest Gump is a film adaptation of the novel by Winston Groom, which was published in 1985. There were a large amount of differences between the novel and the film, such as the film's famous quote 'Life is like a box of chocolates', which is opposite to the phrase in the book, which is 'being an idiot is no box of chocolates'. Gump's character is also different in the film to that of the character in the book. Other changes include the character Jenny, who dies in the film, but not in the novel (she actually dies in the novel's sequel).
