Poverty is defined differently by every society. Though there are different definitions and criteria set for defining what poverty but there is still no consensus over the definition of poverty. According to some definition, a person is considered poor if he or she does not earn income enough money to buy the basic necessities of life like food, cloths, home and education. People are excluded from society on different grounds like ethnic minorities, their color, religion or language.

It has been observed that people are not excluded from society just because they are poor. Behind this exclusion lies a deep sense of hatred and disliking which force majority to expel out minority or any unwanted group of persons and exclude them from the mainstream society.

There are different ways of solving the poverty problem. Bangladesh developed an indigenous model of reducing the poverty. Pioneered by Noble Prize Winner Dr. Muhammad Yunus, a micro finance bank with the name of Garmeen was opened to offer small loans to the poor section of the society without any security or collateral. In that way they offered them small amounts of money which they can easily payback and can utilize to initiate any respectable business. Micro financing is therefore considered as one of the strongest tool to reduce poverty.

Generally people are considered to be living in poverty if they do not have enough money or resources to provide the basic necessities for themselves, such as food, shelter, heating in winter, and clothing to protect from the elements, either extreme cold, or heat.
Of course millions of people across the globe are in this situation and worse, they do not have water to drink and literally die of thirst, which is hard to comprehend for those of us who have enough to eat, drink, wear and excess after that to spend on luxuries.

The solution in the United States and elsewhere, has to lie in taxing the rich more, (America has thousands of millionaires and Billionaires) and then managing that money, so that there are clinics and shelters that are properly run and managed, and that are not abused by people who have the money but do not see why they should pay for medical care.
Feeding programs should be run in every community, and not managed by the state as a whole. Points should be allocated to the state or town that provides the best care for the homeless or poor, and those points can be traded at government level for extra funds from the government to further develop their town's facilities.
