The Bristol Channel narrows at it's eastern end.
The river Severn which originates at Plynlimon in Wales enters the Channel at it's estuary and this is the narrowest part of the Channel.
The Bristol Channel is over 45 kilometers wide at it's widest point but narrows to under 10 kilometres around Clevedon.
It has the second highest tidal range in the world with dangerous rocks and sandbars. The narrow parts are dangerous because of the tidal actions there.
