What Does It Mean When Your Business Is Incorporated?

Answer Question

For one thing it protects the Corporate Officers from being sued, personally. A successful lawsuit can only win the assets of a Corporation, not the personal assets of it's Officers. By the way, this is called Incorporation and you file for this status with your Secretary Of States Office in your own State. There is a fee involved to do this.

It really means "to get registered with the authorities". Incorporation of a business marks its formal beginning.
Also incorporated with a certain establishment may provide accreditation to the business as a "certificate of incorporation "etc.
