Where Does That Extra Sock Go?

Because socks get caught in the legs of jeans and the arms and hoods of sweatshirts.  Chances are you'll stumble upon the other sock sooner or later.

My Mother always blamed it on one footed elves. She said they came when we were asleep or gone and took one sock or one shoe. I think that they somehow slip into the drain of the washer, but I enjoyed the elf story. I think some get lost before or after washing. I believe that this will remain one of the great mysteries of life.

I can never seem to keep my socks in pairs.  It's also like the second glove or mitten during the winter time.  It's pretty frustrating.
