How Do I Know If My Turtle's Egg Will Survive? What Are The Signs Of It Not Making It?

I have a musk/mud turtle. She- we just found that out this morning, laid an egg. I read up and found out that the egg needs to be removed from water within a couple of hours. We are crossing our fingers that we were on time. Secondly, I did not know about the whole "keep them right side up", until AFTER I moved it. I am pretty sure the egg is, for the most part, in the same position. I know the egg was properly fertilized because it was covered in a mucus-like film.
