Rumi is considered as the hottest selling poet in US nowadays. Born in Balkh, now a part of current day Afghanistan, Rumi was the son of one of the elite Islamic scholar of his time. Due to political turmoil, Rumi and his family migrated to Konya, Turkey.

He was 9 years old at that time. He got educated from one of the best known scholars of their time and soon transformed himself into one of the authentic and bold religious scholars. His life was a perfect life until one day a fakir, named Shams of Tabriz came to Konya.

Rumi's meeting with Shams of Tabriz was the turning point in his life as both immersed themselves into deep philosophical and spiritual union each drinking form each others cup. But that affair was short lived and soon Shams of Tabriz left Konya unannounced. Rumi felt himself lonely as his spiritual master has left him. Soon Rumi's son found out Shams and brought him back to Konya from Syria.

But this second reunion didn't lost longer as Shams left Rumi again unannounced and never to return again. This separation converted Rumi into a wild man wandering to find his beloved and concluded that Beloved and Lover are in fact same. His most famous work is Masanvi Rum, considered as the finest ever written piece of poetry.
