How Do You Grow Elephant Ears?

Answer Question

2 Answers - Sort by: Date | Rating

Elephant ears are plants which are big, colourful, leafy, and it resembles the shape of an elephants ears'. These plants propagate out of tuberous bulbs. To grow them, place these bulbs in a rich, organic, well drained and moisture laden soil during the spring. A nitrogen fertilizer is recommended once a month and the soil should have moisture around the season. The Mulch around plants, heavily every year help retain water, and to replenish organic matter. During the fall, remove the tuberous bulbs as it will not last in the winter unless it's in the warmest of places. Since these plants are invasive in nature, it would be wise to install or put up a border a border edging 3"-6" deep into the soil. This will prevent it from spilling out.
