When Was Edward The 6th Born?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

Edward VI grew to be King of England, King of France (although in practice it was only the town and neighbouring district of Calais) as well as Ireland. He was coronated on February 20, 1547 at the tender age of nine years. He was the son of Henry VIII and of Jane Seymour. Edward was the Tudor dynasty's third monarch and the first ruler of England who was a Protestant when he ascended the throne.

His reign witnessed progressively harsher Protestant reforms, an economic downturn and the loss of control over Scotland. A phase of deep social unrest which had begun earlier grew stronger during his rule, while conflicts with the French were amplified. As he never reached majority, Edward had to have his entire rule arbitrated by a council of regency.
