There are certain things that are prohibited from being brought into Canada including dog food, potatoes, radar detectors, large capacity cartridges and fire wood. Certain types of plants and food stuffs are also restricted from being brought into the country. Then there is a limit to the amount of alcohol that can be brought into the country. Up to twenty four cans of 12 oz each of beer are permitted or one and a half litre of wine or forty oz of liquor; individually and not collectively. There is a limit to the amount of tobacco that can be taken into the country as well. Each individual is allowed a 200g tobacco can, 200 tobacco sticks, fifty cigars and a carton of cigarettes. Pets (cats and dogs) that are bought into Canada should have a valid rabies certificate of vaccination.
