What Does Hay Mean?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

Hay does not mean anything but is definitely well known as dried grass or legumes that are mostly cut and consumed for animal feed. Most of the time pasture flowers are also mixed along with hay as a feed. The most common hay plants are rye grass and perennial rye grass with mixtures of other grasses and clovers. And the most often used ones are Oat, barley and wheat.

In many countries the best quality hay for cattle and horses is considered to be Alfalfa. Hay is most commonly used to feed domestic animals like sheep, goats, cows and horses. Pigs generally do not feed on hay as they are unable to digest plant fibre.
