    I Have A 9 Years Old Female House Cat And She Has Matted Fur On Her Lower Back,and She Flinches When You Touch It.What Is The Cause And How Do I Treat It?

    My 9 year old female cat who has this problem with the matted fur used too keep herself well groomed but,now since this problem has raised she doesn't groom herself like she used too,and when you touch it she flinches as if she's in pain.what causes this and how do i treat it? Thank you

    They are called natts and they do hurt as the fur is like a big knot. You need to take a pair of scissors and cut as close to the skin as possible. This will relieve the pain the cat is in. Good luck!!!

      Take the cat to a groomer to get it cut  and then start brushing your cat on a regular basis.My sis had a rabbit with then same problem and her skin got some infection and because she was outside maggots got to her and made it in to a giant wound and she died .
