Are Blood Pressure Monitors To Use At Home A Good Idea?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

Sometimes blood pressure readings taken at GP appointments can be variable and you might be asked to wear a monitor for 24 hours to get a reading every half hour of so as you carry on your normal daily routine.

If you blood pressure is higher than normal but not too high to worry too much about, you might consider getting a blood pressure monitor to use yourself at home. Most doctors recommend that this is a good idea. The Blood Pressure Association  has advice and a list of suppliers.

You need to take readings on different days and not to be too worried about it – don't take readings all the time, or just when you feel stressed as an excuse to say to family and work colleagues that they are going to give you high blood pressure.

Even if you use a home monitor, it is still important to get regular blood pressure checks with your doctor.
