Screwball comedy is one of the many genres of comedy. It all started with the film ' It All happened One Night'. Film scholars say that classic period of screwball comedy has ended although some elements of the genre can be seen even today.

Screwball comedy is different from all other forms of comedy. The first main difference is that screwball comedy emphasizes humour whereas other comedies may accents other things like for example romance. The second difference between the two is that Screwball comedy is more concerned with absurd events whereas other comedies may be based on reality. The entire falling in love process is depicted differently. In Screwball comedy it is ridiculed but in romantic comedy the process is highlighted and romanticized. Screwball comedy always employs eccentric main characters and equally comic and absurd support cast whereas other forms of comedy the main characters will always be serious but supporting cast will be flaky.

Good answer, except the name of the movie is "It Happened One Night". Other great screwball comedies: "Bringing Up Baby", "The Awful Truth", "Theodora Goes Wild". Screwball is a great genre, they are some of my favorite movies.
