Where Does The River Calder Flow?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

There are several rivers that take the name 'Calder' in the UK.

The first River Calder flows through West Yorkshire taking in the local authorities of Wakefield, Kirklees and Calderdale to which it gives its name.

The River Calder in Cumbria flows south from Lankrigg Moss through an area that has lots of ancient landscape.  The river flows near the site of Calder Abbey, and later through the site of the Sellafield nuclear power station, before ending up in the River Ehen.

In Lancashire, the River Calder is a tributary of the River Ribble and starts near Burnley. The River Brun flows into it in Burnley itself.  Pendle Water joins it further north.  After flowing north through Altham and Whalley, and being crossed by the Whalley Viaduct, it ends up in the River Ribble at Great Milton.
