Saving money and spending it wisely are both essential for one's future. You never know when a devastating event might occur and wipe out your bank account and your future if you have nothing saved. Unexpected medical expenses are one of the leading causes of bankruptcy in the US. My car was totaled by a hit-and-run driver, I incurred huge medical bills, and put my life back together after losing everything in a fire. Nobody helped me pay for those expenses. I'm glad I was prepared.

Saving money is very important. The saying "Cash is King" is true. Being prepared for life's unexpected turns is always wiser than "charging it". And saving money to purchase little things helps prevent you unexpectedly running up your bills with increasingly higher interest rates.

Saving money is good, but spending it wisely is better.

Money that you don't use becomes someone else's money. All you get back is a little book/monthly statement showing a lot of (hopefully!) zeros. And you know what that represents.

Make use of your money to invest (not gamble) in the future. Education for you or your children is a good investment. Buy a house, plant a tree...anything that will increase in value or produce more.
Let your money grow.

I personally think saving money is a good thing. I have made plenty of mistakes with money, as I'm sure all of us have, and looking back I wish I would have saved it for something else. But money's not everything, so....you know, basically all I'm saying is, either spend it wisely or don't spend it at all.

Saving too hard can be a sickness but putting 10% of your pay away every time and learning how to make it grow is a really good education on how the Big Picture works. You will never miss 10% but when you are needing it: Lost job, health fails, family emergency, it gets you thru. Also if you can save enough money so the investment income is significant, it's like a second job with money coming in forever. Tithing, or that 105 is ancient and works--put it aside during the good times and be safe in the bad times.

Yes, saving money is very good. You never know what turns life is going to take. A rule of thumb is to have at least 3 months of salary in savings in case of a layoff or job troubles. That does not include any of the incidental things that come up like the need for a new car, house or major items. It is much easier to start when you are young and have it when you need it. Also, your credit score can be helped by saving and being sure you can get your bills paid on time. A higher credit score will help you save on interest when you apply for loans and that is huge over time.

Saving money is good, especially if you are saving in order to get something you have set a goal for. But, don't deprive yourself either. Enjoy it while you have it. You can't take it with you.
