    Glasgow is the biggest city in Scotland. Earlier Glasgow was known as the "Second City of the British Empire". Glasgow is said to be the most populated unitary authority region. The word Glasgow means "Dear Green Place" in Gaelic and, despite its reputation as an industrial city, Glasgow does indeed look very green from the air because of its many parks.

    People from Glasgow are usually addressed as Glaswegians. According to census reports the total population of this region is said to be 688,420. Glasgow is situated on the banks or the River Clyde, in West Central Scotland. Glasgow grew as a major transatlantic trading port throughout the industrial revolution. Currently it is United Kingdoms second most economically vital commerce and retain sector.

    Glasgow is also said to be the second most fashionable tourist destination in Scotland and the third in entire United Kingdom after Edinburgh and London. The police force of Glasgow is known as Strathclyde police.
