It was the Japanese bombing attacks launched on Pearl Harbour that is located in Hawaii, which actually became the eventual reason to make the United States participate directly in the Second World War. The day was 7th December and the year was 1941, when Japanese bombing raids pulverized the Pearl Harbour early morning declaring war and in the process managed the conquest of a gargantuan chunk of land and a vast expanse of sea.

There had been tension between the United States and Japan for at least about a decade or so when this new bone of contention exacerbated the already weak relations between the two states. Until the crippling of the American Pacific fleet, there had been no direct involvement of the two states in the war. Nevertheless both of them were supporting opposite allies. Japan was supporting Germany while the loyalty of the United States was lying with Britain. This attack changed the fate of both nations in the Second World War.
