How To Solve 2x-[11(x-4)+3]=77

I don't know how to solve it

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

    2x - [11 (x - 4) + 3] = 77
    2x - [11x - 44 + 3 ]  = 77
    2x - ( 11x - 41)        = 77
    2x - 11x + 41          = 77
                           - 9x  = 77 - 41
                           - 9x  = 36
                               x  = 36 / - 9
                               x  = - 4

    To prove whether the result is true or not, substitute x with - 4 :

    2x - [11 (x-4) + 3]          = 77
    2(-4) - [11 (- 4 - 4) +3 ] = 77
    - 8 - [ 11 (- 8) + 3 ]        = 77
    - 8 - ( - 88 + 3 )              = 77
    - 8 - ( - 85 )                    = 77
    - 8 + 85                          = 77
    77                                   = 77
