Jane Austen was an English author of the late 18th to early 19th century. She wrote many poems, plays and short stories in her youth (now referred to as the Juvenilia) and also published six full-length novels, two of which were released after her death. Many adaptations of Austen's novels have been produced several times over, both for film and television.

Pride and Prejudice
The most popular and most reproduced Jane Austen novel is Pride and Prejudice, written in 1813. As of June 2012, six films have been made in total, the most recent being in 2005. Five television versions have been produced by the BBC, the most popular being the 1995 version starring Colin Firth as Mr. Darcy. Bridget Jones's Diary by Helen Fielding and its 2001 film adaptation are also based very loosely on Pride and Prejudice.
Sense and Sensibility
There have been several films and TV series based on Sense and Sensibility, the most notable being the 1995 film starring Emma Thompson, Alan Rickman, Kate Winslet and Hugh Grant. The 2008 TV series by the BBC received a generally positive critical reception, too.
Emma
Eight television adaptations and three films have been made based on Emma, including the 1996 version starring Gwyneth Paltrow and Alan Cumming. The most recent adaptations are the 2010 Hindi rom-com Aisha and the four-part mini-series released by the BBC in 2009.
Mansfield Park
Arguably the least popular of Jane Austen's novels, Mansfield Park has been the subject of fewer adaptations than most of her other novels. There are two TV series, one film adaptation and an opera based on Mansfield Park.
