    Volume of the gas is dependent variable in such experiments, where as the temperature is independent variable. Increase and decrease in the volume of the gas depend on the temperature. Moreover, independent variables are plotted on the x-axis of the graph. The volume is dependent variable,that is why volume of the gas in such experiments is always plotted on the y-axis
