What Is Human Cloning?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

Human cloning differs from embryo experimentation in that it is the creation of an embryo using the genetic material from another being. Embryos are a rich source of stem cells, which can replicate themselves and generate more specialised cell types as they multiply. There are two types of human cloning: therapeutic and reproductive. Therapeutic cloning comes under two basic forms; therapy for inherited diseases, and methods called 'stem cell therapies'. In simple terms, the aim of therapeutic cloning is to cure diseases.

Reproductive cloning is simply the cloning of human beings. This, in turn, could be linked with therapeutic cloning as the technique promotes the good of having a child at the same time as helping to prevent such individuals from suffering the burden of disease. Both types of human cloning involve obtaining a DNA strand from one person and fusing it with the reproductive egg using an electrical impulse.
