Are There Any Cycle Paths Through The Centre Of The City Of Sunderland?

Answer Question

Besides all the development the port city of Sunderland is witnessing, there is enough space for the casual cyclists to bread earners on the roads. Right from riding locally, there are several cycling routes in the heart of the city as well as on the coastal routes.
The first is the Hetton- Warden Law circular route called the Timberland Trail.

The next is the Sunderland west- Herrington country park circular route. There are two river cycle ways too as well as the Sunderland to Hartlepool and Middlesbrough cycle route. For shorter routes one can try the Bede's cycle way. It is a 13 mile ride from St. Paul's in Jorrow to the historical coastal village of Whitburn over the well trodden path of St' Bede which finishes at St. Peter's in Wearmouth. One can follow the NCN7 signs through the town centre to cross the footbridge and follow the track to the next roundabout.

One can enjoy the coast to coast trail from Whitehaven in Cumbria to Sunderland. It is one of the most popular long distance cycle routes with an average of 12,000 to 15,000 cyclists completing every year. This 140 mile ride travels along minor roads, unused railway lines, off-road tracks and specially constructed cycle ways ending at the North Sea at Rocker beach.
