You couldn't say it was easy, though with the huge expansion in film and TV production there are more opportunities than there once were. However, with basic screenwriting techniques now being taught in schools, and film studies being a very popular option for college students, there is also more qualified competition than there used to be.

Anyone who is interested in becoming a screenwriter would be well advised to enrol in a film school or film studies course, where the best approaches can be learnt, the best examples studied and your work will be given constructive criticism. Once you have mastered the basics, you may try writing and selling your own script, or you may seek work with a film production company. If you click here, you can find some expert advice on starting as a screenwriter, with links to other resources which may be helpful. Good luck.

This is a very interesting question. As you know, no job on earth is easy. It is very easy to become a screenwriter but to become a good and consistent one is very difficult. When it comes to becoming a film screenwriter you need to culminate a few things in yourself. Firstly, you must read like a bookworm.

Read novels, newspapers, magazines to get the feel of what is happening around you. Then you should develop a habit of writing everyday. No matter what just make it a point to write at least five pages everyday. Then your creative skills must be good. Always think out of the box.

Read biographies of other film makers and screenwriters to get inspiration. If you can do these

Depends on the hard work once puts in and how focussed one is to become a screenwriter. Requires a good knowledge of human characters, how different they could be and what are the core values of life, because that is related to emotion.

Whether the screenplay is based on someone else's story or the screenwriter's own, these qualities would be essential. Watching movies is also important for a screenwriter to know how others have told a story on the screen. The key is in the ability to tell the story on the screen i.e., writing the visual narrative as far as possible without direct speeches.

Once the screenplay is ready, dialogues can then be added to make it complete. To make it a profession, contacts with the production houses would be a business requirement.
