Pasta is a common term for any form of macaroni product or egg noodles. It is made from dough of flour, water, and/or eggs. In Italian the word pasta means "paste". The dough is made by combining duram wheat flour called "semolina" with a liquid, usually water or milk. Then the dough is kneaded, rolled, and cut or extruded and cooked by boiling. Pasta is usually served with sauce. It is available in a variety of sizes and shapes.
The nutritional quality of pasta, and frequently its taste and texture, depend upon the flour. It is popular all over the world. There are a variety of pastas like spaghetti, pizzocheri, gnocchi etc. Fresh pasta cooks quickly and has a fine taste but spoils very fast due to its higher water content when compared to dry pasta which has a shelf life of three years.
