    Hepatitis B is a disease that affects the liver. It is characterized by the swelling of liver and its malfunction. It is caused by a virus by the same name i.e. Hepatitis B Virus abbreviated as HBV. This virus is mostly a double stranded DNA virus that belongs to the family Hepadnavirdae. Therefore it is also called as hepadnavirus.

    This disease is also known by the name of serum hepatitis. It is considered as a sexually transmitted ailment. One can be afflicted by Hepatitis B due to various reasons like sexual intercourse, sharing of drug needles, dirty and unhygienic tattooing equipments, living with a person afflicted by this disease and sharing things like toothbrush, razor etc. it is also passed on to the child born to a mother who has Hepatitis B.

    The symptoms of this disease are fever, tiredness, lack of appetite, nausea and bad stomach, stomach cramps and diarrhoea.
