Is severe constipation a sign? Also, is foul smelling stool?

Colitis is the inflammation of the colon. Dark places on colon x-ray or barium enema are actually the abnormalities at intestinal lining. In other words these can be signs of colitis. It is classed as an inflammatory bowel disease. Its symptoms are pain and tenderness in the abdomen, joint pain, weigh loss, changes in bowel habits, swelling and redness of colon, fever, mucus in stool, ulcer in colon which bleeds, Blood in stool, diarrhea and some forms of colitis cause constipation.
Alone barium enema can not confirm diagnosis of colitis, some more investigations are required. Your doctor will guide you.

He never has diarrhea, he is still in the bed and can not use the bathroom, his bowels will not move, his belly looks huge, If colitis is basically normally diarrhea then he doesn't have it. He stays constipated all the time and this time is worse and getting worse. I have followed up with another doctor and told them he will probably end up in the ER again and that it is going on 9 days since he had a bowel movement, so you still think the dark spots are just abnormalities on the lining? I am completely lost. I don't think we are being guided right. I am so lost, he is afraid to eat because nothing is coming out. He is getting weaker by the day, he was already laying in bed 16 to 19 hours out of 24 anyway. Now he is not sitting up no more than maybe 15 minutes today.
