The library of Alexandria or the Royal Library of Alexandria was at one point of time the biggest library in the world. It is believed that the construction of this library was completed somewhere around the commencement of the 3rd century BC. The first part ever constructed for this library was known as the 'Temple of the Muses'. However the exact count of books that were available in the library is unknown as there was no certain count or index of how many book were stored.

But it is believed that around 500,000 were set as an objective by King Ptolemy II Philadelphus. And it is also said that around 200,000 scrolls were given to Cleopatra by Mark Antony to be kept in the library.
