How Can Venus Be Third Brightest Object In The Sky When It Doesn't Produce Any Visible Light Of It's Own?

    Venus is covered with thick clouds which hold in heat and sometimes light. Just after sunset and before sunrise Venus is visible from Earth. The side facing the Sun will be the side facing toward the Earth. I know i don't understand is either.
