What Does Diaphragmatic Mean?

The word diaphragmatic is the adverb form of the noun diaphragm. A diaphragm can mean a number of things. It primarily refers to a sheaf of muscle that extends from the thorax to the abdomen in humans, a vibrating membrane in musical instruments and a device found in cameras that enable varying of the aperture of its lens.

The other meanings includes a type of pump, a type of arch, a type of valve, a type of wall, a membrane that helps seal an enclosure and a pelvic muscle (pelvic diaphragm).
A layer in the pelvic area separating the upper pelvis from the deep perineal sac is known as a diaphragm as well.
A contraceptive device that is placed in the vagina to avoid the sperm from entering the womb is also called a diaphragm.
