Answer Question

The most well-known theme park in England, Alton Towers is situated in Alton, Staffordshire. It opened as a theme park in 1980, having previously consisted of a collection of gardens.

Alton Towers is famous for its scary rides, such as 'Nemesis' and 'Oblivion', and the park's oldest rollercoaster is the 'Corkscrew', which was built in 1980. The park has two hotels for guests, along with a waterpark.

Alton Towers is split into several sections, all of which are themed. They are: Towers Street (shops and gardens), Merrie England (medieval theme), Katanga Canyon (an African theme), Gloomy Wood (spooky theme), Forbidden Valley (home to rides such as Nemesis and Ripsaw), Ug Land (a prehistoric themed section), Cred Street (for the younger visitors and home to the brand new Charlie and the Chocolate Factory: The Ride, which opened in 2006), The Towers (a spooky section), X-Sector (A futuristic area), Adventure Land (for visitors aged between five and ten), Storybook Land (for the youngest visitors) and Old MacDonald's Farm (includes a zoo).

Alton Towers is also thought to be one of the most haunted locations in Britain.

Its awesome. There are 3 different "lands" in the theme park (i didnt no a better word to use there) so it has 3 different themes. I cant remember all of them but i remember one was called Ug land and it was along the theme of cavemen etc. There is a range of small rides and big rides for everyone. Examples : There is a ride called Air where you sit in like a normal roller coaster and you get tipped forward and the whole roller coaster is made to feel like your flying. Also, the fastest roller coaster in Britain is at Alton Towers. Its called Rita Queen Of Speed and it is very good. There are loads of other rides there called, Nemesis, Duel, Oblivion, Jubilee etc. Alton Towers also has a historic feel to it as the towers there are free for visitors to look around and there are some rides bases on the towers. E.g there is a place you can go in called Hex, which is a house that you walk through and it tells a story. Its very good.
