    The Declaration of Independence was a document framed on behalf of the colonists, which divulged to the entire world that the English colonists in America were a nation independent of Great Britain. This Declaration of Independence was framed mostly by Thomas Jefferson, who was a young delegate from the state of Virginia. To write the Declaration of Independence, Thomas Jefferson used ideas from the Enlightenment Era which took place in the 17th century and the beginning of the 18th century.
