You'll get your best 'hands on' experience probably at a store such as Circuit City or Best Buy. I wouldn't buy the most recent only because it has no history or track record yet....plus the price will come down soon enough. Cameras 4 Megapixel and higher can produce great photos but you may wish to take movies as well. Also try to get one with Optical Zoom of at least 4x. Digital zoom functions are almost worthless. As before mentioned your can check the Internet for reviews. You might try CNET or EPINIONS.com for comparisons in prices and functions. Avoid stores that will not offer a full refund and be careful not to fill out any information or rebates until you're sure it's a keeper. If you're aiming at photography as a major, you might want an entry level SLR style. More bucks but more options. Check B&H Photo site for a good look at these and other types. Good luck, Dave

There are many places where you can buy good quality cameras. You need to decide whether or not you wish to purchase a normal camera, or a digital camera. Digital cameras are more useful as you can view the pictures beforehand and delete them if you don't like them.

The internet is the best way to find a good quality camera. All you need to do is do a search for the product that you are looking for, and you will get lots of stores which sell the product.

Also, if you purchase a camera from sites such as Amazon, you can read customer reviews and see what they think of the product. Also the products are rated, so this will help you to decide.

The internet is also the best place to look if you want to compare prices and stores. There are many websites were you can type in what you are looking for and they will return lists of online stores, ratings and reviews.

I would say to buy one at wal-mart because I bought a camera there 4 years ago and it still works and really good to.
