I Receive A System 32 Corrupt Or Missing File/folder Partition Error. As A Result, I Am Not Able To Get To My Desk Top. If The Hard Drive Is Bad, Is There Any Way I Can Check To See (aside From Bringing My Computer To A Repair Shop), If It Is Bad? I Do Not Have A "system Restore Disk" And Microsoft Tells Me That The Disk Is Back Ordered. And My Notebook, Manufactured By North Gate Which Went Out Of Business, Is Three Years Old.

You can try running scan disk - right click on the hard drive in my computer, click properties, then tools, then check drive for errors. This will scan the drive and try to repair basic problems. You may have bad sectors on the disk and could try a defrag but in my experience this sometimes worsens the situation.
