"Weaning" is the term used when babies are introduced to solids.  If you still haven't started weaning, it is important to note if your baby has started teething or not. If not then whatever you choose should be totally pureed and if yes, then there could be small soft bits in the food you choose. If you are starting out, the best food is baby rice because at this point you don't know what your baby's food allergies are. Rice is the safest food. After rice you can experiment with both vegetables and fruits. It all depends on what your baby will like and what he/she will reject. But, it's important that both vegetables and fruit make a part of his diet as Milk ,still,  will to be the primary source of nourishment. When you start solids, start giving your baby cooled bolied water to prevent constipation. Also do not put either sugar or salt in their meals as it can be harmfull to their yet to be developed organs. Babies haven't developed a sense of taste at this point and they won't miss it.
